Ed Sheeran maintains warm image, avoiding celebrity drama and never letting showbiz get to his head. Sheeran has constructed this reputation for himself through his music only, rather than being noticed for silly behaviour. Although his name is not completely clean, having suffered alcohol related issues, but told the Daily Mail Australia that “If anything ever got out of control, I’d just switch it off, like I did with drinking.” Ed Sheeran belongs to Asylum Records, Atlantic Records, Elektra Records and the Warner Music Group and is managed by Stuart Camp, but Sheeran has control of the way he presents himself to the media. Stuart Camp said “The foundation of what we have is all built on playing live,” referring to Sheeran’s image being created by the way he performs his music. His continually growing fan base is made aware of this through live performances. Ed Sheeran’s marketing strategy is to continually introduce people to his music. The Lego House music video, for example, used actor Rupert Grint, who appeared as a fan, creating attention from a new audience. Composing for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug advertised Sheeran’s music to a previously untouched audience. In conclusion, Ed Sheeran may be managed by four labels and Stuart Camp, he continues to uphold a positive reputation for his pop and folk records.
